Demo cracy day

Thinking about Nepal the previous years, one always thought about Mao's and this never-solved-event in the kings palace , where the crown prince shot all family and himself. things changed fast in the last years, and today the country is celebrating "Democracy DAY". it happend exactly 1 year ago, that the 15month autorcarcy reign by King Gyandra (the younger brother of the above) was turned down after 9 days of violence against the people. Now there is a government, 7 party congomerat even including the Maoist party. things are not easy, and neapli people are quiete inpatient, and not really satisfied with the achieved results within the last year. But coming from germany and china, with so differnet political approaches, it is as an "outsider" first of all a remarkable achievement of the people.

genocide olympics

na, isnt that hard?
olympia boycott "only" because the chinese are buying oil in SUdan. Sure it is an absolutely terrible situation in Sudan; and to make profit out of the "clean and world open image" that china wants to show in 2008 has been undergoing (pe.e for environmental reason) ;
but its sort of rethoric misschick to call it "Olympic Genocoide", and to blame china for the UN missmanagement.

Asians attacked in mabira forest demo

mmmh.... Friday 13th?
yesterday a demonstration in Kamapala against the sugercane investment in Mabira Forest turned violent, with 3 asians killed (stoned to death and shot by security). Read here. The Mabira forest protest is right now the hottest political and economical topic in Uganda, with a lot of people trying to protect the nature reserve for beeing partly destroyed by an indian based sugar company.
i cannot say that i am afraid, but it seems that poeple are very nervous and violence can break out easiliy. and that the political opposition is trying to profit from these events, just as teh president Musoveni revield his retrirement plans.
