traffic in beijing- "hen mafan!"

if there is one thing that is really really annoying in beijing, it is the deep throat spitting that comes along with this "krrrrcht->splash<" sound, AND, even more the traffic! there are 3 subway lines serving a city of 13 mio, the bus system is somewhat a labyrinth of lines, and although updated with newer buses, in the morning and after work they are all crowded with no "yuan" fitting between the squeezed people. taxis, almost 60.000 or so. yes, could be fun when you have a small chat with the driver about car brands, football (pls no "shit-e-la" talk) etc, but could be horror when the driver smells like his last garlic meal. although beijing is huuuuuuge, and the roads are communistic wide alleys, they are blocked. that is why a more and more middle class chinese now own a car. 1000 cars are registered every day in beijing, so there are 22.000 new cars on the street alone in 2007! will be 3 million in May this year!
and the new subway lines (mainly the one to the airport) only finsihed before the olympics. Thats why i still prefer my wonderful bike: reliable and fast as a pink flash. but unfortunately in winter times much to cold to ride.
